Our Story

Greenwood Farm is an urban farm, agricultural education centre, and community meeting place. It’s a vibrant hub for the people of Bundoora and surrounds to learn, to connect and to succeed in growing fresh nutritious food.

A collaboration between Bundoora Secondary College, Local Food Connect and Banyule City Council, Greenwood Farm will offer educational and connection opportunities to the public, opening its doors to the wider community outside of school hours.

As the centre grows, we’ll offer hands-on training for local home growers, volunteer opportunities, spaces for small and large community events, as well as local food swaps and farm gate sales.

The Partners

Our vision is a future where people recognise the value of local food, foster vibrant communities, and embrace healthy and sustainable living for a more resilient world.

Greenwood Farm is an exciting collaboration between

Bundoora Secondary College has developed the ‘Wolrd of Urban Agriculture and Conservation’ program where students explore the exciting connections between agriculture, STEM, and environmental sustainability through engaging, practical learning experiences. The thriving on-campus farm and food system produces fresh, seasonal food that supports both the school and the wider community, while providing students with real-world skills and experiences that make learning come alive.

Local Food Connect is a not-for-profit community group working across North East Melbourne to increase appreciation of the importance of our local food system. Local Food Connect works to strengthen the community’s ability to access local food by connecting local people with local growers, farmers and producers, as well as the skills to grow their own. LFC’s role at the Farm is to facilitate community involvement.

Banyule City Council facilitied the connection between Bundoora Secondary College and Local Food Connect and is supporting the initiative through its Urban Food Strategy.
